75% LESS CONVEYOR BELT DOWNTIME
Reduction of operacional losses
PROBLEMs
The sugar conveyor belt had difficulty restarting when stopped under load, especially during rain, wind, or other loading conditions.
The client planned to upgrade the drive system but was not sure about the actual power requirement.
DIAGNOSIS AND SOLUTION
We conducted a comprehensive technical analysis, validating the required dynamic and static power. The study confirmed that the existing motor was already capable of meeting the operational demand. The issue was identified as an incorrect soft starter configuration. After the necessary technical adjustments, the system was stabilized without the need to replace the motor.
RESULTS
Before the intervention, the client took 2 to 3 hours to resume normal operations after a shutdown, requiring up to 7 starts with 15-minute intervals between them.
After the adjustments, the recovery time was reduced to 45 minutes, with only 2 starts required.
• Savings of R$ 130,000.00 by avoiding the purchase of a new motor
• 75% reduction in machine downtime (from up to 3 hours to just 45 minutes)
• Reduction in the number of starts required to stabilize the conveyor (from 7 to 2)
• Operational savings of up to R$ 93,600.00 per year, due to reduced vessel berthing time
